Senior Middleware Developer -  G10

Harrow Council is the 12th largest London borough by area and one of the most culturally diverse local authorities in the UK, making it a great place to live, work and visit. Located 10 miles from the city centre and just 13 minutes to Euston from Harrow & Wealdstone station there are great transport links via the Metropolitan Line, Watford DC Line and national rail service. It is easily accessible to the M1, M25 and A406.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual to join the Digital Services Team.

The Digital Services Team will be looking for new and innovative ways to change the way Council Services are delivered with a focus on digitalisation. Building on the success the Council has already achieved through the website and MyHarrow account, the team will be looking to enable and deepen further services online, transform business processes, while constantly striving to improve the customer experience.

The Digital Services Team are looking for a Senior Middleware Developer to lead on variety of new and exciting developments as part of the Digital Transformation Programmes.

To be successful in this role the following skills are desirable:

  • Ideally have experience working in a senior development position within a team, leading on developments and allocation sub-tasks to other developers
  • Significant recent experience creating middleware solutions with leading industry tools e.g. JBoss FUSE , Camel, JMS
  • Significant recent experience of working on IT projects developing back-end applications on a Java environment
  • Solid experience accessing and transforming data with common web service techniques e.g. SOAP, REST
  • Solid experience accessing and transforming data from common databases e.g. Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server
