Hillview Nursery school is the only LA maintained nursery school in the borough of Harrow.

If you are an experienced Early Years teacher looking for leadership progression in a unique nursery school based within a Children’s Centre, then a role at Hillview Nursery School could be for you.

The role of the Early Years Teacher at Hillview is to ensure that all children receive high quality care and education. The school nursery has capacity for 90 children ranging in the ages of 2, 3 and 4 year olds. There is an additional ARM unit of 12 children with complex needs.

General responsibilities include:

  • Leading a room, with the support of 4 early years educators and up to 6 one to one staff.
  • To be fully involved with all aspects of the teaching and learning of the school nursery
  • To plan, organise and implement the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum alongside the multi-skilled team within and beyond the setting
  • To lead the education team in the planning process as necessary, including baseline assessment and ongoing observation, assessment and recording of children’s progress and development
  • To work with and plan for children with a range of abilities and needs in this diverse community jointly with the SEN team
  • To develop true partnership with parents/carers in caring for and educating their children
  • To assess and record children’s learning as key worker to assigned children
  • To maintain a quality environment in which the children are encouraged to access their own learning
  • To work with the ethos that children lead their own learning as educators scaffold and extend their learning in a rich, stimulating environment
  • To commit to continuous professional development and be open to innovate and challenge orthodoxies in the best interests of children and their families
