Specialist Teaching Assistant for Children with Vision Impairment

Harrow Council’s People Service Directorate is currently recruiting for a Specialist Teaching Assistant for Children with Visual Impairment to join their Education Services team 3 days a week term time only(19.65 hrs).

The above post offers an exciting and interesting opportunity for a committed, hardworking and motivated person to work as a special teaching assistant in an established Children’s Sensory Team in Harrow.

It is always a challenge to recruit someone with the right qualifications in Braille and skills required so we will seriously consider strong applicants without the qualification with a commitment to complete the RNIB Braille distance learning qualifications.

If appointed you will be base in a school or other educational settings to promote pupil progress, safety and independence. The post involves providing appropriate teaching and learning opportunities and resources to ensure the successful inclusion of all pupils with vision impairments (some pupils have additional difficulties).

You will be trained and supported by specialist teachers from CST.

  • Successful experience with working with children is essential.
  • GCSE Mathematics and English or equivalent is essential.
