Youth & Families Engagement Officer – G5

Headstone Manor & Museum provides a high-quality, accessible museum and archive service, offering relevant events programmes aimed at enabling Harrow residents to learn about and enjoy their local heritage. Located 10 miles from the centre of London and just 13 minutes to Euston from Harrow & Wealdstone station there are great transport links via the Metropolitan Line, Watford DC Line and national rail service. It is easily accessible to the M1, M25 and A406.

We are currently recruiting a Youth & Families Engagement Officer to join our team working 36 hours per week on a fixed term contract until 28th August 2020 (maternity cover).

The successful candidate will create and deliver participatory activity, with a particular emphasis on attracting families and young people from a diverse range of communities. The programme will contribute to developing a sustainable future for the museum by building new audiences and establishing a profile in the local community.

To be successful in this role you would need to have the below skills & experience: 

  • Experience of audience engagement in a heritage or museum setting
  • Knowledge of the needs of diverse audiences and overcoming barriers to participation
  • Experience of delivering activities with families and working with young people in an informal environment
  • Demonstrable enthusiasm of creative consultation and community engagement methods
  • Knowledge of current practice in museum learning
  • Ability to work to multiple priorities and deliver projects to deadlines
