Social Worker / Senior Social Worker, Children Looked After

G8 – G10 £31,240 - £41,292 and Market Supplementary payment of £1,500

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Social Worker / Senior Social Worker, Children Looked After to join our Children and Families Services, Social Work team. The post holder will report into the Deputy Team Manager / Team Manager, Children and Young People Service and will be the allocated Social Worker to complete assessments for children in need, including those in need of protection, children looked after, those subject to public care proceedings and, where directed by the Court, children subject to private law proceedings. The post holder will also be responsible for the assessment, planning, monitoring and review functions for all allocated children and families.

In addition, the post holder will ensure the services and outputs are delivered in line with the statutory social work practice with children and families within a local authority team setting.

To be successful in this role you would need to have the below skills & experience:

  • A detailed knowledge of the Children Act 1989 and other legislation relating to children plus other statutory regulations, guidance and procedures
  • A detailed knowledge of the “Framework for the Assessment of Children and Their Families”
  • Experience of user consultation and participation focusing on the needs of service users and carers
  • Experience of working in partnership with a range of different people including users and professionals
  • Experience of undertaking complex social work assessment and practice which take fully into consideration the child/young person’s background and lifestyle choices
  • Experience of formulating support, protection and care plans which consider the range of services appropriate to meeting the needs of children/young people and their parents/carers and families
  • A recognised professional Social Work qualification (e.g. Degree in Social Work, Dip SW or CQSW or equivalent)
  • A full UK driving licence preferred
