Project Support Officer

Harrow Council is the 12th largest London borough by area and one of the most culturally diverse local authorities in the UK, making it a great place to live, work and visit. Located 10 miles from the city centre and just 13 minutes to Euston from Harrow & Wealdstone station there are great transport links via the Metropolitan Line, Watford DC Line and national rail service. It is easily accessible to the M1, M25 and A406.

Harrow Council is looking for a Project Support Officer to work within the Resources & Commercial directorate on a Secondment/Fixed Term contract up to January 2020. The Project Support Officer will provide support to the Program Management Office (PMO), additionally, supporting the PMO in its governance.

The post holder will play an integral role in the strategic development and improvement of council’s performance, enabling partnership working to deliver our corporate priorities and delivering a council wide improvement programme.

The appointed candidate reports to the Service Manager for the Business Transformation team.

Part of your regular duties as Project support officer are:

  • To support the co-ordination, control and reporting of a range of programme and project management activities.
  • To provide project/programme advice and guidance to ensure that best practice is applied.
  • To support the maintenance of the project documentation such as highlight reports, business cases and project initiation documentation.
  • To produce creative promotional material using a variety of medium including Power Point.

To be successful in this role you would need to have the below skills & experience:

  • Must have good knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
  • Must have general office experience and working towards meeting deadlines
  • Experience of extracting information from a range of sources and producing clear, error free and well-presented reports for a range of audiences.
  • Ability to identify potential issues and provide solutions to rectify these.
  • Analytical and methodological approach to work.
  • Graduate qualification in a relevant subject area or relevant knowledge gained from career experience.
