An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead our highly successful Social Science department comprising of Sociology and Health and Social Care.

Sociology is a very popular subject choice at A Level, where the AQA specification is delivered by a dedicated team of specialist teachers. Outcomes at A Level are consistently amongst the best in the school, with a stunning 100% of students securing A* - B grades at A Level in 2019 and 2020.

Health and Social Care is also a very popular subject choice at both GCSE and BTEC Level 3 and is delivered by two specialists. Outcomes for BTEC Level 3 Health and Social Care is well above average and majority of student’s secure D/D*.

The successful applicant will be motivated to lead a team of highly committed subject specialists who believe there are no limits to what our students can achieve. As one of the highest performing departments in the school it is renowned for its pedagogy and academic success, and now seeks an inspirational leader who is motivated to drive student achievement to even greater heights.

This post would suit an outstanding teacher with the ambition and vision to make a success of this role. We are looking to appoint a colleague with a track record of delivering outstanding outcomes at GCSE and A Level. As a middle leader, you will be a key member of our Teaching and Learning Group and play a key role in driving up standards across the school.

Bentley Wood High had a phenomenal 0.98 progress 8 score in 2019 this continues to build on
exceptional progress 8 scores over the past 3 years. Students achieved 78% grades 9-4 in both English & Mathematics. The achievement of grade 4 or above in EBacc at 63% is significantly higher than schools nationally. Many subjects achieved strong GCSE results with a high proportion of students achieving grades 9-7.

All 6th Form students’ study and complete 4 AS courses in Year 12 and 3 A Levels in Year 13. Bentley Wood Sixth Form maintains an ALPS T- score in the top 25% of schools across all
subjects at both AS and A Level, with progress being above average at +0.34.
