The Caretaker Supervisor will report to the Area Premises Manager and will be required to perform regular maintenance and minor repairs on the lawn care equipment and tools, perform as required a full lock up/lock down of the school and assist in the maintenance and upkeep of the school as required by the site.

The successful candidate will:

  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills; for dealing with members of staff
  • Ideally have a trade background e.g. joiner/plumbing
  • Perform as required a full lock up/lock down of the school
  • On call alarm duties
  • To act as a key holder, carrying out security procedures for the buildings and grounds.
  • Regularly set up and remove furniture e.g. exams and daily assemblies.
  • Planning of own workload.
  • Advise the other caretakers regarding workload and prioritisation of tasks.
  • Distribute and relocate equipment and incoming goods.
  • At all times to carry out the duties in accordance with school-based policies and Health and Safety procedures, including risk assessment.
  • Regular check-up of school facilities including bathrooms, alarms and boiler systems
  • Carrying out minor repairs such as mending broken windows, changing light bulbs and unblocking drains
  • Turning heating and lighting on and off at appropriate times
  • Making sure the premises are clean and that rubbish is collected and taken away, and any graffiti is cleaned up
  • Maintaining the grounds and removing litter.
  • Adhoc tasks as advised by the Area Premises Manager
  • Dealing with enquiries from officers and employees of the Local Education Authority, workers and contractors and, where appropriate, advising the Senior Administration Officer of their presence.
  • Carrying out first line repairs and maintenance which are not beyond the scope and capability of the postholder.
