Compliance and Quality Assurance Manager – Harrow & Brent - MG1

Harrow Council is the 12th largest London Borough by area and one of the most culturally diverse local authorities in the UK, making it a great place to live, work and visit. Located 10 miles from the city centre and just 13 minutes to Euston from Harrow & Wealdstone station there are great transport links via the Metropolitan Line, Watford DC Line and national rail service. It is easily accessible to the M1, M25 and A406.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Compliance and Quality Assurance Manager to join the Commissioning Services, Special Needs Transport Service team. The post holder will report into the Head of Transport Services.

The post holder will perform an essential role in managing the Compliance and Quality Assurance for Special Needs Transport Services for the transportation of children and adults with special education and social needs to and from home to school and designated centres.

The Compliance and Quality Assurance Manager will have overall responsibility to ensure service users are transported safely, any issues are investigated comprehensively and that all contractors are fully audited and compliant. The role will oversee the Compliance and Quality Assurance Officer and contribute to managing the Transport Services budget of approx. £10m of expenditure.

To be successful in this role you would need to have the below skills & experience:

  • A working knowledge of relevant Health, Safety and Welfare legislation and approved Codes of Practices
  • Knowledge of relevant transport legislation, such as the use of the Operators License, Permit 19 operating restrictions
  • Able to use MS office software and an understanding of database usage, including the software currently used in the routing and scheduling of all routes
  • Proven experience of working in similar environment and knowledge of passenger transport contracts
  • Supervisory experience; managing and motivating employees
  • Working under pressure and to strict deadlines in a demanding environment
