Description

Harrow Council’s Adult Services division is looking for a Social Worker to join their team.

The post holder is required to provide a professional fieldworker service to service users and their carers and to manage the needs of adults with physical, learning or sensory disabilities including those who are terminally ill.

The post holder is required to ensure that appropriate assessment of need is undertaken, and that care packages and other services are organised, monitored and reviewed to meet the needs identified within the resources available and to promote independence, in accordance with current legislation, and with the policy and practice of the local authority.

Other responsibilities include:

  • To ensure compliance with your responsibilities as laid out in the council’s equal opportunity policy and take an active role in promoting equality and diversity and to Harrow’s diverse community
  • To ensure compliance with your responsibilities as laid out in the council’s health and safety policy and take an active role in promoting a positive health and safety culture
  • To promote and participate in the council’s performance appraisal and development scheme and information management best practice
  • To ensure compliance with the council’s information security policies and maintain confidentiality
  • To liaise with staff throughout Adult Social Care as well as other departments of the Local Authority and to liaise with statutory, voluntary and independent organisations to ensure that working relationships are maintained, developed and strengthened.

To be successful in this role you would need to have the below skills & experience:

  • A working knowledge of relevant legislation including welfare benefits.
  • Knowledge of a range of interventions and services provided by social services and other agencies including the private and voluntary sector.
  • Knowledge and skills in assessment procedures, delivering and monitoring innovative packages of care in order to promote independence.
  • Experience of working with people with Physical, learning and/or sensory disabilities and their carers.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent or has the equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Appropriate professional qualification i.e. CQSW, CSS, Dip. SW or equivalent.
  • GSCC registration
