Description

Temporary Job Opportunities with the 2021 Census

The 2021 Census is taking place on 21th March 2021 and the Office for National Statistics (ONS), with Adecco, are starting to recruit temporary staff to help with the 2021 Census.

The Council is working in partnership with the ONS to achieve the best possible Census in 2021. The ONS has acknowledged that Local Authority sourced field staff have proved to be ideal candidates in the past, as they have an excellent knowledge of the local area and our communities.

The Adecco Group has been appointed by the ONS to handle the Census 2021 high-volume recruitment campaign and this is being actively supported by Job Centres across the UK. This presents an exciting opportunity for candidates to be involved in the first ‘digital census’ in history. Adecco are working hard to ensure they are taking every necessary step and precaution to ensure the well-being of both staff and candidates, in light of COVID-19.

A wide range of temporary part-time and full-time roles will be available, offering contractual periods between a few weeks to several months. Candidates can apply for officer (those working in the field), supervisory or managerial roles (subject to individual experience). You can apply to work on the 2021 Census, even though you may already be working full or part-time.

Community Advisers

Recruitment is now underway for the Community Advisers who will engage with specific communities that have been identified as needing extra support and encouragement to understand the benefit of the census to encourage completion of the census questionnaire. Community Advisers working in Harrow (for the Arab and Indian communities) will be paid £16.93 per hour. Contracts run from the end of October 2020 to early May 2021.

Community Advisers outside Harrow are also required to work with other communities, such as the Pakistani and Black African communities; pay rates may vary in other areas. The recruitment ‘Go Live’ date is 3rd August 2020 with a closing date of 28th August 2020.
