Overview of a Cook

Pertemps have an exciting opportunity within Harrow Council for a self-driven and motivated Cook to join an expanding team. The role of Cook has a competitive pay rate of £10.89 per hour.  Other benefits include excellent training and support for career development and 21 days holiday (excluding Bank Holidays).

The Main Purpose of a Cook:

  • The preparation and cooking of foods
  • To provide an efficient and flexible service to meet our customer needs
  • The supervision of staff and allocation of duties in the absence of the supervisor
  • To assist in the cleaning of equipment, kitchens and dining area as required to ensure a high standard of cleanliness is maintained at all times.
  • To ensure efficient levels of stock
  • The checking and recording of all food received, quantities of ingredients used and the number of meals produced and served
  • Handle cash for goods purchased
  • Deal with all customers in a friendly, swift and efficient manner

About you, the successful candidate will have:

  • To be able to carry out food preparation and cooking of all food types
  • To be able to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Experience of working in a similar role
  • Knowledge and experience of budget management and costings
  • Knowledge of equipment used
  • Knowledge of stock systems
