St John’s Church of England School, 127 Stanmore Hill, Stanmore, Middlesex HA7 3AD

Are you a KICKSTART Candidate, aged 16 – 24 and currently claiming Universal Credit?

We have an exciting opportunity for you!

St John’s Church of England School is a Voluntary Aided primary school with a great reputation and high standards.  We offer something very special to our children; an excellent education in a secure, friendly and happy learning environment.

We are looking for 6 Classroom/Teaching Assistant positions.  The main role of the Teaching Assistants will be to support the classroom teachers in their day-to-day work. Your tasks will involve helping to prepare classroom materials, photocopying and working with small groups of pupils. These groups may be able and gifted children or may be children who find some of the school curriculum challenging. The job is extremely varied and successful candidates may also find themselves helping out during play times, lunch times and other associated activities such as accompanying them on trips, outings etc.

All candidates must demonstrate good spoken and written English as well as mathematical skills, be patient in their approach to learning and be willing to ‘get stuck in’ to the normal school day.

Please also note that these will be short 6 month contracts as described in the Government’s Kickstart scheme.

The school is a lively caring community, supported by an energetic and committed staff.  We  have  pupils from diverse groups in Harrow as well as neighbouring boroughs and we warmly welcome children – those of Christian faith, other faiths and of no faith to share our Christian Ethos which permeates and underpins everything we do here at St John’s.  Everyone at St John’s believes in our vision to make a difference………….. and we most certainly do. We are a very popular school in amazing surroundings on Stanmore Hill.  Details about our school can be easily accessed from our website.

There are good transport links nearby and the area is well served by buses towards Bushey, Harrow and Stanmore Station, our nearest tube link and the Jubilee line.

Informal visits to the school are welcomed and strongly encouraged.  Please contact Mrs Denton, School Office Manager, for an appointment.

St John’s is committed to safeguarding children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  The school follows safer recruitment practices to protect children. Successful applicants will be required to apply for an enhanced disclosure from the DBS.
