Overview

Working within Special Education Needs Service, the post offers an exciting and interesting opportunity for a committed, hardworking, highly organised, and motivated Habilitation specialist to work in an established Children’s Sensory Team in Harrow. This post is required as soon as possible.

You will work in a range of schools and other settings to promote pupil progress and independence. The post involves providing appropriate learning opportunities to ensure the successful development of independence skills of children and young people with vision impairment (many of which have additional needs), who are aged between birth to 25 years.

You will train children and young people, their family members and professionals working with them in promoting independence travel skills and life skills.

About you

The successful candidate will have:

  • Completed or be in the process of completing the ‘Specialist Qualification in Habilitation and Disabilities of Sight (Children and Young People)
  • Excellent knowledge and application relating to Habilitation
  • A driving licence or be able to demonstrate how you will fulfil this aspect of the role via alternative means.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to respond flexibly, sensitively and positively to others.
  • Ability to manage and organise workload and meet deadlines
  • Be Enhanced DBS checked Adult & Childrens barring list
  • However, it is always a challenge to recruit someone with the right qualifications and skills so we will seriously consider strong applicants without the qualification with a commitment to complete the postgraduate qualification.

Note: to be accepted on to this academic course you will be required to have a degree qualification or a minimum qualification equivalent to Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF) Level 4 plus relevant work experience.
